Art Safari is an annual cultural event showcasing Romanian and international art, held under the Patronage of Bucharest City Hall and CNR Unesco. Art Safari is Romania’s largest art event and East Europe’s leading Art Fair. This is the first Art Pavilion in Romania presenting contemporary art alongside heritage and modern art, which recorded in 2016 a number of 24.536 visitors.
The 4th edition of Art Safari started this year from May 19 until June 18, where international contemporary art galleries are to showcasing the new directions in art curating. The 2017 edition of the Bucharest Art Pavilion-Art Safari is due at the Kretzulescu Galleries (45 Calea Victoriei).
Each year, Art Safari Bucharest reintroduces unknown or forgotten urban spaces around the city. In 2016 it was the Place Dacia – Romania, and in 2015, the Cyclops garage. This year, the fair has found its home at the Galleries Kretzulescu, a remarkable building designed by the architect George M. Cantacuzino between 1934 and 1939. The venue is now known for its impressive galleries inspired by the classic Italian architecture.
Art Safari also offers the public a chance to be introduced to inter-media, performance, and video artworks (The Space presented visionary art produced by young artists in their 20s); to meet with important visual artists through Art Safari Dialogue – series of artist talks; and also an educational program Art Safari Kids.
The Art Safari Kids program is dedicated to children, and gives them the opportunity to develop their creativity through workshops in painting, sculpture, collage, and guided tours by art students which are specially designed for children. Also dedicated to children is our trusty partner Gerflor with its durable vinyl flooring suitable for high traffic environments which offered bright and attactively designed solutions to the architects in charge with the project, Ioana Corbu (IC Studio) and Vladimir Nicula (VNBIA).
For the kids area at Art Safari 2017 Gerflor and Decor Floor sponsorshiped with more than 150 sqm of Taralay Impresion & Uni making the space more attractive and safe for the workshops
Many conferences and book launches took place in the VIP area at Art Safari 2017. The architect Ioana Corbu designed the VIP area focusing on preserving as much of the old finishes.
In the end, emerging the new and the old, the space provided elegance and freshness.
Milliken carpet suited perfectly the architectural design. In the first phase of the event Artistic Liberties modular carpet covered the VIP area, following that in the last two weeks of the event to make a rotation of arrangements with new patterns provided by Milliken.
